ABOUT GOLDIE’S BOOKSHELF
Goldie's Bookshelf is an immersive book project turned blog.
This all started as a monthly book project where I would choose a theme for the month, read a few books related to that theme, and do some sort of activities related to that theme/those books (e.g., walking tours, attending lectures, travel, theater, other cultural events, etc.). I wanted to document this project in some way and hopefully create some sort of community of learning around it. Thus, Goldie’s Bookshelf was formed.
The namesake of this blog, “Goldie”, was the name my great grandmother went by. Goldie was a fiercely curious woman, whose bookshelves she shared with her husband/my great grandfather, Bill, were early influences in my love of reading and learning, along with the bookshelves of my parents and those at my maternal Grandfather’s farmhouse. These bookshelves were filled with literature, history, biographies, travel, nature guides, gardening and crafting books, things of industrial matters, and so much more. Goldie was responsible for introducing me to my early favorites in literature– the Anne of Green Gables and Little House on the Prairie series, Little Women, and so much more.
With this blog, I hope to share and preserve my bookshelves with whoever wants to take a look.
